A quick heads-up before you read on: our own lawyer-match program is in soft launch, so this page doesn't connect you to an attorney instantly. Instead, it points you to the trusted worker-side directories below. Non-compete enforceability is rarely cut-and-dried — the decoder gets you most of the way (primary statute, state doctrine, threshold check), but a real attorney is the right call when:
- The decoder returned an indeterminate verdict
- You signed in one state and now live or work in another
- Your industry has a specific carve-out and you're not sure if it applies to your role
- You're negotiating an exit and need leverage that a statute citation alone can't give
- Your former employer is threatening to sue you

Where to find an attorney right now
We're still building our own attorney partnerships across the priority worker-side states (CA, MA, IL, TX, NY, FL), and we won't put a date on it until it's genuinely ready. In the meantime, these established, independent directories are the best place to start:
- National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) — workers'-side employment-law attorneys, searchable directory: nela.org/find-a-lawyer
- Your state bar's referral service — every state bar runs a referral service that matches you to licensed attorneys in your area.
- Workplace Fairness — worker-side advocacy organization with state-by-state guides and attorney directories: workplacefairness.org
