What this decoder does — and doesn't — do

  • Does: apply the 6-input decision tree against the canonical state matrix; surface the primary statute and (where available) controlling case-law; flag choice-of-law warnings when an employee-protective forum would disregard your contract's out-of-state choice-of-law clause.
  • Does not: read your specific contract language (a real attorney does that); audit every state-bar advertising rule for compliance disclosures (until the cluster artifact lands the page renders the generic disclosure); guarantee a court outcome — non-compete litigation turns on facts the decoder cannot see.
  • No data leaves your browser. The decoder is fully client-side. Inputs are not logged, not stored, not sent anywhere. Aggregate analytics record only the state code and verdict bucket — never your salary, industry, or contract specifics.
